Candidate Bios
Carmine Granucci
I'm Carmine Granucci, proud parent of Liliana, an 8th-grade student at Ottoson Middle School. Having become a part of the Arlington community since 2014, I am deeply committed to enhancing the educational experience for all students at Ottoson.
In my role as a town meeting member in Precinct 21 and as a recent precinct captain for the Invest in Arlington campaign, I've had the privilege of actively engaging with the community and contributing to its growth. Through these experiences, I've witnessed the strong sense of community spirit, generosity, support, and pride that defines Arlington.
With a Bachelor of Science and an MBA from the University of New Haven, coupled with over two decades of experience in the technology sector, I bring a wealth of expertise to the table. This background has honed my skills in strategic planning, project management, and fostering collaboration.
I am passionate about nurturing an inclusive and equitable environment at Ottoson Middle School. Our community benefits greatly from a robust public education system, and I am eager to champion initiatives that enhance inclusion and equity within the school. My objective is to be a supportive voice, ensuring that every student has equal opportunities to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Additionally, I am dedicated to encouraging open communication channels, actively engaging with fellow parents, and leveraging my experience to contribute positively to the Council's initiatives.
Ted Lombardi
I am the very proud parent of Josie, an Ottoson 7th grader, and Clancy, a Bishop 2nd grader. I have spent the last 20 years in K-12 education as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in Lawrence and Malden, and as an assistant superintendent and currently as a secondary schools superintendent in the Boston Public Schools. My career has been based on equity and creating opportunities for our most marginalized students. My most recent work has been focused on creating more advanced coursework and career-connected opportunities for students to create higher levels of engagement and contextualized learning, work that I would love to bring into the Arlington schools. I received my bachelors degree from the College of the Holy Cross, masters degrees from Boston University and Salem State University, and my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Northeastern University.
I have served on both the Bishop and the Gibbs school councils in the past few years, and would love the opportunity to continue to support our school community in this way.
Eve Manz
I am a former elementary school teacher and parent of a seventh grader at Ottoson and a fourth grader at Thompson. I'm an Associate Professor at Boston University Wheelock College of Education and Human Development. I study science education and work closely with teachers and districts to improve science teaching and learning. I have been active in the Thompson School Community, participating in the Thompson Diversity and Inclusion Group (DIG) and the mutual aid group. I'm passionate about working with others - parents, teachers, administrators, and youth - to create schools and learning environments that recognize young people's strengths and needs, value diversity, and engage students deeply in learning. At the same time, I'm pragmatic, able to listen, and actively seek to understand other perspectives. I want to better understand what is shaping the structure and opportunities at Ottoson so I can contribute to further developing a caring, supportive, and engaging learning environment there.
Shauna Pellauer
This is our family's second year at Ottoson. I have a lot of experience contributing to school communities in various ways. Last year, I served as a member of Ottoson's School Council and the Assistant Principal search committee. I taught English at Newton South High School in Newton, MA. for eleven years and, after leaving the classroom in 2019, I served as Secretary (2019-20) and Co-President (2021-22) of the Thompson PTO. I love being in schools - for all of the logistical and all-too-human complications involved in public education, they truly are exceptional places where people of all ages come together on behalf of the common good.
Last year on the School Council, the other parent member and I communicated frequently with the principal on issues of concern to families, including soap in the bathroom and HEPA filters. I enjoy the challenge of working on school issues from the perspective of a parent and a teacher, and I look forward to continuing this work and doing what I can to support the needs of Ottoson students, parents/caregivers, and teachers alike.
Andy Wollen
Andy Wollen has three children in the Arlington School system, including one now in college, one at AHS and one at Ottoson. Andy studied ESL and Educational Administration at Teachers College, Columbia University and taught in the New York City public school system as well as in Xi'an, China and in his home town in rural Kansas. Professionally, Andy has worked as a management and strategy consultant for Ernst & Young, spent several years in the financial services industry, and today is an entrepreneur and a consultant and coach on Operations for early stage companies. He appreciates the importance of community involvment in public schools and is eager to support Ottoson with his skills and experience.
